2023 is in the books and the last quarter left investors looking forward to a bright and happy new year. We entered the fourth quarter with strong momentum, including a healthy labor market and easing inflation pressures. We then ended the quarter with a record high for the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA), as it closed over 37,000 for the first time. The S&P 500 ended the year with a gain of more than 24% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) ended the year up more than 13%. (cnbcnews.com; 12/29/23)
